Federal Interior Minister Ijaz Shah confirmed the media reports about the escape of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban and former Jamaat-ul-Ahrar spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan.
Responding to a question while talking to the media, Brigadier (retd) Ijaz Shah said, “The news that I have read about Ehsanullah Ehsan is correct. We are doing a lot, we will get good news soon.”
It is understood that the alleged audiotape of former banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan was revealed earlier this month, in which he revealed that he had escaped ‘from the custody of Pakistani security agencies’ on January 11, 2020.
He claimed that he was present in Turkey while several sources believed that a former terrorist spokesman was in Afghanistan.
Sources say that Ehsanullah Ehsan allegedly escaped during an operation to capture and target the terrorists.
Later, on February 11, the Senate Standing Committee on Interior affairs sought a detailed report on the Ehsanullah Ehsan escape, and on February 13, relatives of the Martyrs Army Public School (APS) Peshawar called the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar to take notice of terrorist’s escape.
