Umar Akmal may face 2-year prison after his confession to meeting with a bookie

After the evidence given by cricketer Umar Akmal, he may face 2 years in prison.

According to sources, Umar Akmal confesses that a bookie made contact with him and now the data of Umar Akmal’s phone is in custody of the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Omar Akmal could face a two-year sentence for failing to report bookie’s contact to PCB.

Omar Akmal received clean chit in a discipline case a week ago.

Before PSL 2020, bookie approached Umar Akmal and offered him a huge amount to fix the match. The PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit found a record of the conversation between the two over the telephone.

Sources say bookie also met Umar Akmal and the video and photos of their meeting were also available to the Anti-Corruption Unit.

The PCB took action after receiving solid evidence, and now Umal Akmal also admitted to contacting bookie but was suspended for not informing the PCB or team management in a timely manner.

Sources say Umar Akmal has also started legal counselling.

According to the PCB, Umar Akmal has been suspended under Section 4.7.1 of the Anti-Corruption Code, after which Umar Akmal cannot participate in any cricket-related activity till the investigation by the Anti-Corruption Unit is completed. ۔

On the other hand, Anwar Ali has been added to the squad by the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2020.
