Islamabad: The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President, Maria Fernanda Espinosa will be arriving in Islamabad on the invitation of the government on Friday (tomorrow).
She will meet President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and officials of the UN and civil society during hr first day of the visit.
Since she assumed office i last year September, it will be her first visit to Asia-Pacific region and that too in Pakistan.
Besides her official engagements, the UNGA president will also meet members of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and visit Pakistan’s Peacekeeping Training Center.
Espionosa is likely to deliver speech to academia, think tanks and students. This is going to be the second visit by an UN General Assembly president since 2010. Her envoy includes Chef de Cabinet, a senior advisory, a communication specialist, her coordination officer and personal assistant.
Espinoas is the fourth female President of the UN General Assembly in its long 73-year history.
