Islamabad: Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday.
Sources informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan and WHO chief had the meeting and the discussed the steps taken to completely remove the polio from Pakistan. Dr Christopher Elias, president of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and PM’s Focal Person on Polio removal Babar Atta also attended the meeting.
Dr Tedros briefed the Prime Minister about a polio donors’ conference that was held in Islamabad.
Mr Elias expressed contentment over Pakistan’s effort to fight polio virus and promised to help Pakistan cooperating the country in this regard.
Prime Minister said that WHO’s role is appreciable in the removal of polio. He also thanked the Gates Foundation for consistently helping fight against this disease.

Earlier Dr Tredos met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. “Discussions [were] held on steps being taken for polio eradication in Pakistan,” spokesperson for the Foreign Office Dr Muhammad Faisal informed in the Tweet.
