Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram, is being observed today across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain Razi Allah ho Ta’ala Anho and his devoted companions in Karbala.
Taazia and Zuljanah processions will be taken out in all cities and towns of the country today in memory of martyrs of Karbala.
Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident during the mourning processions.
In Rawalpindi, the central procession of Ashura has emerged from Imambargah Col. Maqbool Hussain, which will culminate at Imambargah Qadeemi after passing through its designated route.
Zakireen are highlighting the philosophy of the battle of Karbala, paying great respects to the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The mourners will hold Sham-e-Ghariban Majlis at Imambargah Qadeemi.
Sabeels of water, milk and tea have been set up along the route of the procession in remembrance of famine like situation faced by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.
Strict security measures are in place to ensure peace and security. Walk-through gates and CCTV cameras have also been installed to check the entry and exit of people at various points.
The Metro bus service is closed today in view of security measures regarding Youm-e-Ashur.
Meanwhile, in Lahore, main Shabeeh e Zuljinah procession of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate of Old Walled City near midnight last night, is currently passing through its traditional route.
It will culminate at Karbala Gaamay Shah this evening, where Shaam-e-Ghareeban will be held.
Youm-e-Ashur is being observed with due solemnity in Sindh including Karachi as elsewhere in the country today.
The main Majlis of the day will be held at Nishtar Park from where the main procession will also be taken out after the concluding of the Majlis.
The procession, after passing through its route at M.A. Jinnah Road will culminate at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian Kharadar in the evening.
Meanwhile, the central morning procession of Ashura in Hyderabad emerged at Qadam Gah Moula Ali which after passing through various routes will culminate at Karbala Dadan Shah this evening.
In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinah procession of 10th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali shah Qissa Khawani Bazaar this morning which after passing through its traditional routes will terminate at its starting point in the evening.
Mobile service has been suspended in Peshawar city to avoid any untoward incident.
Similar processions of Tazia and Zuljinah were also taken out in Hangu, Parachinar, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan today.
The main mourning procession of Alam, Tazia and Zuljinah was taken out from Punjabi Imambargah Marriabad in Quetta city which after passing through its conventional routes will conclude at this very point after Maghrib Prayers in the evening.
Similarly, Sham-e-Gareeban will be held at each and every Imambargah tonight during which the philosophy of Martyrdom embraced by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions will be highlighted.
To pay homage to Imam Hussain (R.A) and Martyrs of Karbala Youm-e-Ashur will also being observed in Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.
In Gilgit, the main procession will start from Central Imamia Mosque at morning which passing through main bazar will culminate at same in evening.
Gilgit-Baltistan administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure protection of all processions besides security on Karakorum Highway and Naran Babusar road.
A spokesman of Home department said Control room has been set up in Home department Gilgit, phone numbers are following 920266 and 920208.
Our Gilgit correspondent said deployment of police and personnel of law enforcement agencies has been made in Gilgit city.
Mobile phone service will be suspended today.
The main procession will be monitored by CCTV cameras from safe city control room.
Health department and NGOs have set up medical camps to provide treatment facility to mourners.
