Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur, have submitted a review petition against the Supreme Court decision in the fake bank accounts case.
Supreme Court in the wake of JIT report, ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on January 7, to hold a thorough probing into the case and wrap it up.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) could not submit final challan in the court and not give evidence pertaining to this case, the petition read.
The plea said that JIT was constituted on the orders of Supreme Court due to the recommendations of FIA. The report was finalized without investigating us and it was delivered to SC.
Plea said that SC admitted FIA couldn’t provide substantial evidence. “While the JIT also sought further investigation into the matter.”
It was also said that why the case was moved to Islamabad from Karachi, it is not sensible move in any way.
The petition mentioned that the “impugned order suffered from errors floating on the surface of the record”. It also argues that the directions issued in the SC order “are prejudicial to the petitioner in any futuristic eventualities of a fair trial and due process will not be possible under Article 10 (a) of the Constitution”.
“The facts and circumstances of the case and in light of the JIT report in this court was not justified with impugned order in directing the transmission of the JIT report along with all the material and evidence collected by the JIT to the NAB”.
The urged accountability court to review the decision they made earlier.
